Wildlife Rescue Workshops
Introduction to Wildlife Care and Conservation
Critters Up Close offers a hands-on wildlife rescue course designed for schools, communities and environmental groups looking to build awareness and compassion for Australia’s native animals. These workshops are perfect for participants who want to learn what to do when encountering injured or displaced wildlife in their everyday environment. With a strong focus on education and practical care, our program introduces the basics of wildlife safety, ethical handling and response strategies, making it a popular choice for students, educators and animal lovers. The workshop is engaging, age-appropriate and promotes responsible action in natural spaces, with an ideal duration of 2 hours.
What You’ll Learn and Experience
Each animal rescue training session covers the essentials of recognising wildlife in distress, when and how to intervene safely, and who to contact for professional help. Participants are introduced to a variety of native species commonly encountered in suburban or rural settings, including bobtails, frogs, turtles and even spiders.
We guide attendees through safe containment techniques, temporary housing setups and transport advice using simple, accessible tools. Sessions may include demonstrations of handling equipment and live animals for observation. The workshop is available in one-hour or extended formats, and can be delivered indoors or outdoors at schools, community centres or environmental events.
