I was lucky enough to grow up in the hinterland on the far north coast of NSW, which gave me the opportunity to experience both coastal and bush habitats. I think it is for this reason that I’ve always had an interest in nature and the way our actions impact the environment around us. I started out completing an Advanced Diploma of Environmental Management through TAFE, which gave me an excellent grounding… but it wasn’t enough for me! I wanted to know more about the science behind it all – in particular, the way our climate is changing and the effects on our water resources including fresh and marine environments. So I embarked on a Bachelor of Marine Science and Management to continue the journey of learning, which I am continuing today with my honours in wetland chemistry and management. I am excited to be working with Critters Up Close, educating people about our aquatic environments and how our actions can impact our flippered friends!
